If you?re a boy or man, there is nothing very attractive about heading to the neighborhood beauty shop for a haircut. Gordon Logan saw a need in the hair care market for a business that catered to men, and the venture paid off.
Though Logan has made it big in hair care, that?s not where he got his start. He was a management consultant at Price Waterhouse in Houston when he read a Wall Street Journal article about a growing salon franchise.
Logan decided it was worth investing in a franchise with the same company. Unfortunately, the company was better at marketing than it was at operating and went through a bankruptcy just a year later.
The following tumult educated Logan on what not to do when running a franchise, so he was ready when he took over the franchise in 2001.
Since then, he?s added 1,000 stores that employ more than 10,000 people.
